Meet Our Founder
Pastor Joyce Dean – Founder of Global Hope Ministries
Pastor Joyce Taqi is a woman of faith, resilience, and purpose, dedicated to uplifting and empowering individuals—especially women—through practical skills, mentorship, and community-driven initiatives.
Born with a natural gift for creativity and craftsmanship, Pastor Joyce’s early years were shaped by her talents in cooking, sewing, and baking, which later became not just her means of survival but also tools for empowerment. After graduating high school in 1983, financial limitations prevented her from pursuing higher education, but she refused to be defined by her circumstances.
Her journey took a dramatic turn during the Liberian Civil War, when she was forced to flee to the Ivory Coast as a refugee. Despite the hardships, she used her skills to sustain her family and uplift others. It was during this time that she and her husband encountered a generous pastor who provided them with scholarships to study Missions and Theology in Ibadan, Nigeria, where she earned an Associate Degree in 1996.
Returning to war-torn Liberia, Pastor Joyce and her husband established Christian Mission Assembly, a ministry focused on rebuilding lives. Witnessing the immense suffering and economic struggles of women and families, she founded a vocational training school, equipping individuals with skills in tie-dye fabric making, sewing, pastry-making, and interior decoration—empowering them to become financially independent.
Eventually relocating to the United States, Pastor Joyce continued her mission, using her talents to navigate challenges while remaining committed to serving those in need. Today, she travels twice a year to Liberia, mentoring and training the next generation.
As the founder of Global Hope Ministries, Pastor Joyce leads with compassion, providing practical assistance, skills training, and hope to the hopeless, abandoned, and vulnerable. Through initiatives like Fashion for Hope, she merges creativity with philanthropy, using fashion as a means to fundraise, empower, and transform lives.
Her unwavering faith, resilience, and dedication continue to make a lasting impact, proving that through the grace of God, determination, and the work of one's hands, anyone can rise above adversity and create meaningful change.
